Yekatit 12 Hospital Medical College (Y12HMC) is one of Ethiopia’s oldest and most respected public teaching hospitals, established in 1923. Located in the Sidist Kilo area of Addis Ababa, it operates as a tertiary referral hospital while serving as a medical education and research institution under the Addis Ababa City Administration.
The hospital provides comprehensive outpatient, inpatient, emergency, and specialized healthcare services across numerous clinical departments. It is particularly recognized for its expertise in burn treatment and reconstructive care, internal medicine, surgery, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, orthopedics, diagnostic imaging, and laboratory medicine.
Y12HMC also trains undergraduate and postgraduate health professionals and conducts clinical research, contributing significantly to Ethiopia’s healthcare system and medical workforce development.
