The Development Bank of Ethiopia (DBE) is Ethiopia’s national development finance institution, dedicated to promoting sustainable economic growth by providing medium- and long-term financing to priority sectors. DBE primarily supports agriculture, agro-processing, manufacturing, tourism, renewable energy, and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through project financing, credit facilities, guarantees, and technical advisory services.
Unlike commercial banks, DBE focuses on financing projects that contribute to national development objectives and job creation. The bank also manages several externally funded development programs in partnership with international financial institutions and development agencies, helping expand access to finance for underserved sectors across Ethiopia through its nationwide branch network.
